Case Studies
These case studies are examples of areas in which we’ve helped particular clients achieve their aims and goals in specific ways. They’re included here so you can get an idea of the way we work at Hallmark.
Case Study 1
One of the top UK communication agencies asked us to help them market their services through an innovative mailer. The complexity of the promotion put our skills to the test. Our brief was to plant three beans into a small, earth-filled ceramic pot and then mail complete with a magic wand, mini watering can, height chart, paper instructions and promotional scroll.
The challenge was to find a method of packaging these various sizes and shapes together so that they gave the impression of a gift for the recipient. We also had to ensure that the pack arrived in pristine condition, without the pot breaking, the earth spilling or the paper scroll being squashed or creased.
Case Study 2
We were brought in to fulfil orders for a leading television programme’s annual calendar promotion. Our specific responsibilities were extremely varied as we were left in almost total control of the project. They included purchasing calendars and bespoke envelopes, forecasting quantities and scheduling deliveries to avoid being out of stock while at the same time minimising surplus.
Order processing was undertaken via web, telephone and post, with a large influx of calls coming in on Sunday evenings. Cheque and credit card processing took place, along with UK and worldwide fulfilment (complying with our 5-day SLA). We also provided customer service and produced an audit trail for the client afterwards. The total calendars sold in a specific year were in the region of 180,000.
Case Study 3
A leading sales promotion agency devised an innovative newspaper offer and asked for our help in managing the project. Readers were offered a free A3 aerial photograph of their home. It sounds easy until you think about the number of overlapping aerial photographs that make up the UK and recipients want their home to be in the middle of the photograph.
Our first task was to build a database which cross referenced postcode ranges with the code number of the most suitable photograph. A racking system was built to store hundreds of flat pre-printed maps prior to being selected and rolled/inserted into circular tubes along with a personalised promotional message.
At the same time we had to ensure that each application was accompanied by the correct coupons and, critically, that the postcode was checked for the address supplied.
